The Big Fuck Up

Jan Laureys wants to see the world and enjoy life, but under pressure from his father he becomes a gendarme. When Jan hears about the CDI, a new unit set up to tackle drug criminals, he immediately volunteers. After a major screw-up, the CDI loses a large sum of money belonging to the gendarmerie. To avoid losing face, they decide to earn the money back by selling drugs themselves. As always, everything goes smoothly… until it doesn’t.

One of this soundtrack’s greatest strengths is its diversity. Spanning everything from 1960s garage rock to disco, funk, and Latin influences, the music is as unpredictable as the story itself.

Alongside well-known, era-defining 1980s artists such as Yello and Twee Belgen, the soundtrack also highlights more obscure gems including The Dance and Lavi Ebbel.

The project is further elevated by an original score from Lennert Coorevits, as well as a standout New Beat track composed by Toon Janssens, adding depth and atmosphere to the overall experience.

“And I would be remiss not to praise the excellent soundtrack; a balm for a painful moment in time.”
