BRUZZ is getting a makeover! With a fresh tagline, a revamped visual identity, and a brand-new app and website, now the question is: What does the new BRUZZ sound like?
“With ‘Brussels is Capital,’ we take a clear and determined stance on our journalistic identity, editorial focus, and societal engagement.”– Koen Cypers (Editor-in-Chief, BRUZZ)
This new direction is reinforced by a brand new sonic identity across all BRUZZ platforms, including television, radio, and digital and social channels. Our sonic facelift ensures coherence and recognition across the diverse expressions of BRUZZ media, including channels, labels, programs, segments, events, and initiatives.
The Score is the starting point of creating a sound identity. This soundtrack is the alpha and omega of your sound: it contains all the necessary elements for further derivatives. Our mission with it? To make a brand sing in a relevant, distinctive, catchy and ownable way.
BRUZZ is dynamic because a city like Brussels never stands still. That’s why we have developed a strong and lively musical signature. We have challenged rhythms and played with textures to embrace a vibrant urban jungle. We play loudly, yet with dynamism and vitality. We bring everything and everyone together with playful melodic patterns and intelligent, convincing chord progressions.
The sound Logo represents the melodic heart, distilled from the Score. Short, particular, recognisable, completely ‘you’.
We organised a casting to discover the ideal voice for BRUZZ. BRUZZ is dedicated to and powered by the people of Brussels. Our quest led us to focus exclusively on authentic voices hailing from Brussels – be they artists, singers, or performers.
After a selection process, we identified eight standout candidates, each representing the essence of Brussels vibrant city. We discovered the ideal fit with David Numwami. David’s voice not only captivated BRUZZ but also embodies the true spirit of Brussels.
With the casting of Brussels musician and producer David as BRUZZ’s voice identity, we’ve opted for a less conventional but contemporary and original timbre.
We also created a diverse set of ten alternative sound logos. These are paired with a multitude of voice-over takes, creating a dynamic and engaging sonic journey.
BRUZZ’s brand-new sound strategy captures the essence of Brussels, with all its contrasts and vibrancy. The city has a dark and raw side, but also a lively music scene and a vibrant nightlife. These conflicting and exhilarating elements have been seamlessly integrated into a sound system for BRUZZ radio, the city’s go-to station.
